There is a lot to celebrate this time of the year, so its a great thing that there is a slew of brand-new hotspots to gather everybody at. Happy holidays and happy eating!
You have to love a place that declares dress codes ridiculous. Soupanova Ecosky is located on the 23rd floor of the GKM Tower, but its roots are in Berlin. The retro décor is fleshed out with cool patterns and wood furniture, making it a hip and comfy place to enjoy Soupanova’s culinary specialties: German food and tapas. But stay for awhile, this hip spot is aiming to make a place for itself in Jakarta’s nightlife scene. There is no dress code here, but there is one very important clothing rule: no high heels please!
Soupanova Ecosky, GKM Green Tower 23rd floor, Jl. TB Simatupang kav. 89G, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. Hours: Mon-Sun 4pm-12am.
The second pastry cafe from Sophie Boyer has opened its doors just down the road from its charming original location. Sophie Authentique is welcoming from first glance with its blue front door and wooden fence, so it’s a good thing that’s much roomer than its original spot. If you have the time, they have the space for you to enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat like their almond-chocolate croissant, canelé, or macaron. For the busy bees, they also have a drive-thru window so you don’t have to miss out!
Sophie Authentique, Jalan Kemang 1, Kemang, South Jakarta. Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat-Sun 8am-7pm.
With a pedigree that includes fine-coffee purveyors Common Grounds and stylish SCBD eatery Wilshire, you know that Chronicle Jakarta is something special. Common Grounds’ Yoshi brings his care and expertise to the java and Chronicle takes it one step further by offering well-crafted cocktails. The beverage menu is well matched with tasty food offerings. Although they are pretty new, Jakarta foodies can’t stop raving about Chronicle’s Mie Belitung and lobster roll.

Avec Moi Restaurant & Bar
Before we get into the food (spoiler: delicious modern French) we have to say we love the whimsical look of Avec Moi Restaurant & Bar. The rabbit theme continues inside with their dining chairs sporting a pair of ears. Normally you’d expect fine French dining to come with a hefty price tag but here you can enjoy delicious dishes without breaking the bank. Enjoy delicious a la carte dishes and their two- and three-course set lunch without feeling guilty.

Clea Tea Bar & Lounge
It’s no secret that we’re in love with Clea Flower Boutique so we’re thrilled that we can now spend even more time this charming world. Opened around the corner from their shop at Lippo Mall Kemang, the Clea Tea Bar & Lounge combines lovely blooms with lovely brews. But there is more than just tea in this beautiful glassed-in café, they serve smoothies including their signature Green Monster, and a few dishes like tuna spaghetti and nasi Hainan.

With it’s cheery yellow awning, Mandaga’ Canteen looks modern and new but step inside and you’ll be transported back to an old-school canteen. Everything at this Padang restaurant tastes of delicious authenticity but our faves include lontong sayur (rice cake with vegetables), nasi goreng Padang, sate Padang, and gulai kambing (goat curry). Coffee lovers also can grab a cup of neighouring Tanamera’s coffee here as well.

St. Germain by Cacaote
One of the classiest restaurants on Senopati, Cacaote, is spreading its reach. St. Germain by Cacaote serves the same beautiful – and tasty – cakes as its big sister but also boasts an impressive all-day breakfast selection. Opt for the Big Breakfast, the Tunisian-inspired breakfast, or their signature baked eggs. A bit of a health nut? St. Germain serves up granola, made with raw rolled oats, fruits, seeds and nuts, with milk, soy milk, yogurt or fruit juice.
