Hello again lovely hispters! A few weeks ago, I went to Bandung, and stayed at Hilton there, with a few of my uber cool foodie fellas from Jakarta. It was a physically tiring trip (because of the abnormally prolonged journey from Jakarta to Bandung and vice versa, due to traffic jam on the highway - go figure!), plus I was quite unwell on the eve of the trip, I was down with a bad sore throat and all. However, it was still a truly rewarding trip, as I got to be with my cool buddies, chatting and laughing our arses off and had a chance to preview some of the lovely new menus at Hilton Bandung.

So right after arriving at Hilton around 3pm, we went straight to Purnawarman for a late lunch. The massive restaurants was literally deserted, as it was just past the lunch service hours. It's quite rare to catch a sight of an empty Purnawarman, so yeah, I still had the energy to take photos of the restaurant despite the hunger...

And then our food came...(at looong last!)
Our welcome lunch set menu consisted of new dishes by the Hilton Bandung F&B team, we're the privileged few to get to taste these first before they're dished out to the general public...Mind you, I was over-famished at that time, that I no longer felt hungry by the time our food arrived, but luckily, I still had my appetite and so, digging into these delectable dishes were easy feat.
Tuna Dabu Salad - (superficially seared tuna, served with bean sprout & tofu salad with dabu-dabu sauce)
Buntut Balado - stewed, fried & marinated tender oxtail, served with rice and soup
Surabi Kinca - traditional Bandung 'pancake', served with palm sugar and coconut milk mixture sauce
Chef Denny Gunawan Cooking Demo & Menu Preview
Then, right after lunch, we stayed at the restaurant for the preview of Cooking Demo by Chef Denny Gunawan, the grand finalist of Top Chef Indonesia 2013, and recently, top 3 finalist of the Amazing Food Challenge of Asian Food Channel. At the pasta station, Chef Denny quietly worked his magic, only aided by one assistant. Although I was already full, I was actually excited to try his un-named dishes.
Here are the dishes that Chef Denny prepared for us: The first one, Chilean sea bass with dark miso glaze, bok choy and rosa apple salsa on the side, served with creamy beurre sauce. Who would've thought of turning rose apples into such refreshing salsa? And for the next one he cooked us some Striploin with red wine sauce, mashed potato and sauteed vegetable on the side.

And then right about dinner time, we retired to our respective rooms. We then went down to Purnawarman again for dinner, to be exact, we had the Culinary Journey buffet of Indian feast prepped by Chef Ashok Eapen from Hilton Garden Inn Trivandrum, Kerala. The next day, just before we departed back to Jakarta, we had a special lunch at Fresco Restaurant by the pool, at which we sampled the Healthy Gourmet Set Menu. I was absolutely thrilled to know that at last, there's a hotel restaurant that will serve healthy and delicious food! *kissed the floor praising for my answered prayers* LOL.

Couldn't believe it myself that all of the above, only fetch the price tag of IDR 250,000++/person, and this is a restaurant in an International 5-star hotel, mind you. Oh, how I wish this is in Jakarta! But anyway I had a blast spending that weekend at Hilton Bandung. I left the city happily and with full belly. Until I'm back again, Hilton Bandung!
