Yum! We love sangria because what’s not to love about wine plus a fruity snack? It’s basically a nutritious treat. This wine-based libation is the perfect accompaniment to a lazy brunch or a mid-day escape from the heat. If you’re looking for the best places in Jakarta to cool your heels with this Spanish beverage, look no further!

Tapas Movida

At Tapas Movida you have your choice of two excellent sangrias – traditional and deluxe. The premium option is a must for parties as it includes more than five types of alcohol. This potent punch pairs really well with Tapas Movida’s authentic savoury little Spanish dishes.

Tapas Movida, Jl. Cipete Raya no. 66, Cilandank, South Jakarta, p. 62-21/751-0851. Hours: Mon-Fri 11am-10pm, Sat-Sun 11am- 11pm.

Face Bar

This centrally located bar has been a long-time favourite in Jakarta thanks to its fantastic service and laid-back vibe. Face Bar’s bartenders are very good at cocktails – and sangria. Their blend is sweet and comes with the perfect amount of fruit. And the best part is the sangria is 30 percent off during Face Bar’s daily (yes, even Saturday and Sunday) Happy Hour from 5pm-8pm. Cheers!

Face Bar, Jl. Kusuma Atmaja 85, Menteng, Central Jakarta, p. 62-21/3192-5047. Hours: Sun-Sat 11:30am-1am.

Benedict

Recently opened in Grand Indonesia, Benedict already commands a lengthy wait list every weekend thanks to its superb brunch offerings. While you might be dazzled by what the G48 chefs have created on the food side, don’t overlook the brunch drinks, especially their surprisingly strong sangria with white or red wine. The secret ingredient here is brandy!

Benedict, Grand Indonesia, Jalan Thamrin, CBD, Central Jakarta, p. 62-21/2358-0200. Hours: Mon-Thurs 10am-10pm, Fri-Sat 10am-12am, Sun 10am-10pm.

Portico

It’s no surprise that we would include this stylish wine bar on our list of the best sangria. But if you haven’t been yet, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by Portico’s signature white lychee sangria. It’s a unique and tropical twist on this classic summer cocktail.

Portico, Senayan City, ground floor, Jl. Asia Afrika lot 19, Senayan, South Jakarta, p. 62-21/7278-1787. Hours: Mon-Fri 11am-1am, Sat-Sun 11am-2am.

Plan B

We couldn’t only include one tapas restaurant! Plan B in Senayan comes up a lot when talking about notable sangrias – and delicious Spanish dishes – in Jakarta. The owner is Spanish chef Oskar Urzelai, who has worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain so you know all of the flavours here will be on point.

Plan B, Rukan Permata Senayan D25-26, Jl. Tentara Pelajar, South Jakarta, p. 62-21/5794-0821. Hours: Mon-Sat 8am-11:30pm, closed Sundays.
