Put both these on your speed dial for a dose of decadence and indulgence: Acqua Perla Spa and Robert Marchetti The Plantation Grill at Double Six Hotel in Seminyak.
The first on dial should be the Acqua Perla Spa, where the two and a half hour “Ready to Rock Ritual” will set the tone for all things pleasure and ultimate girl time.
Then it’s on to Robert Marchetti The Plantation Grill, the hotel’s premier eat house and one of Bali’s ultimate dining experiences. Get dolled up to the nines, splash on a vivacious lipstick and slide back in to your long-forgotten stilettoes, for this is a setting that lets you embrace your inner city girl. A rare gem on a laid-back tropical island.
We opted to kick off our Plantation experience in the Billard Room, where the cocktail menu – designed by Jonathan Jack and inspired by the best local ingredients – had us sailing into the evening with beaming smiles and perfect vibes.
The bomb was the signature Plantation Cocktail; golden rum infused with pandan leaf mixed to perfection with sour sop sorbet and fresh lemon juice, served up in a martini glass rimmed with palm sugar – liquid bliss.
Then it was on to the main event – the food.
The entrees marched out as if fresh from the sea, proving to be as sophisticated as they sounded on the menu. Oysters Florentine “Marchetti style”; pan-fried crab cakes and “ceviche meets tartare”; and raw grouper, wild barramundi and salmon; we shared the plates and rated every one of them.
The mains positively melted in our mouths, with a six-hour leg of lamb and half spit roasted duck inducing a choir of praise from all who put their fork in.
Never the type to under-indulge, dessert was a must-do. Crème whisky caramel, new old school bombe alaska and chocolate creme brulee set us up perfectly for a night-cap at the hotel’s Sling Bar before getting horizontal.
This dining experience is a must on the Island.
