The event that attracted the attention of the Jakarta society in February 2018 was held at a luxury hotel in Raffles Jakarta. Enjoy lunch or dinner together with a chef from London with 1 Michelin Star restaurant. Paul Walsh is from City Social located in London and he is Executive Chef leading the restaurant team.

This time he was present in Jakarta bringing some mainstay dishes at lunch and dinner at Arts Café, Raffles Jakarta. In the lunch time i was with SKAL Jakarta which is a hospitality & tourism association consisting of hoteliers, travel agents, and F & B Supplier. Every month SKAL Jakarta holds meetings in various Jakarta Dining spots between members and non-members as well.

At lunch, the set offers 5 courses with 3 appetizers, 1 main course and 1 dessert. In the appetizer menu using a variety of seafood ingredients such as Dungarvan Oyster, fresh oyster flavor combined with dashi, melon pieces and yuzu sauce. Followed by Yellowfin Tuna Tataki, it should be a modern twist, fresh tuna served with cucumber, then slices of radish and avocado paste at some point. There are also Crab, Prawn, Pickled Kohlrabi, serving crabmeat and prawn shreded cooked and served with pickled kohlrabi on it.

For the main menu, guests can choose between Isle of Gigha Halibut or Braised Irish Beef Short Ribs. Both of these dishes certainly have a different character where the Beef with a fairly soft texture and served with red wine sauce is really dominant and tasty. While the halibut fish served with deep fried shrimp and fondant potato. Unfortunately the halibut is too dry, and i think the overall taste offered is just ordinary.

For dessert, served with Rum Baba. The dominant pineapple aroma provides the freshness and sweetness that fits. While rum baba is a cake that is processed along with rum so it has a fragrant aroma, this was first time i tasted this pastry. The sweetness is quite fitting and has a rather rough texture.

For dinner, the menu offered is slightly different. In the appetizer, two menus like Tuna Tataki and Dungarvan Oyster are the same as during lunch. But the difference is, there is no crab dish but Squid Ink Risotto is no less beautiful. For this menu i was quite impressed with the creamy flavor, the texture of the firm risotto and the tasty processed mackerel as well.

For the main course was totally different with the dish at lunch time. There's Herdwick Lamb Loin and Ragú. The soft and juicy texture of lamb with an excessive spice is very tasty compared to beef dishes at lunch. Then there was the Fish of the Day with seabass dishes that are quite satisfying than the halibut. Soft seabass texture with a fragrant aroma. It's just presented together with a deep-fried oyster that is too dry and taste oily.

Luckily the dinner was served along with the wine selection which would have been a nice finishing although there are some menus that i think were less than amazing. The concept of dinner with a chef from the Michelin Star restaurant would be an experience that would be great to be missed, especially we don't have any Michelin Star restaurant in town.
But in addition to the concept of this dining experience would be satisfactory if the services provided also adjust with the star chef and elegant wine dining. Several times the staff seemed confused to explain the menu presented and the lack of responsiveness of the staff who poured the wine so the glass seemed empty for a quite time.
