When someone utters the word “truffle”, there is always a miniscule silence while everyone takes in the luxury of the word. Aside from their decadence, perhaps their price tag is what is so awe-inducing. But we believe it’s the fact that the most delicious harvest comes only once a year, and ‘tis the season! In honour of this spectacular event, Three Buns chef Adam Penney has crafted Jakarta’s first menu dedicated to truffles, including three cocktails that he and mixologist Dre Masso developed just for the burger house.
Truffles are usually associated with fine dining, but chef Adam has thrown a twist on things and created a menu that’s approachable and ready to be eaten with your hands. He wants you to dive into each burger, sleeves rolled up, and enjoy the quality and flavour of ingredients that have been perfectly paired, then come back for more!
The showstopper is the Street Truff, a burger topped with truffled onion jam and silky den-miso mayo. It must be said that this definitely trumps the infamous Rambo, the lamb burger from Three Buns’ regular menu. We recommend ordering their new tater tots alongside your Street Truff for a walk down memory lane. The Truffle Mac N Cheese is also a crowd-pleaser, thanks to its blend of three cheeses and shaved-truffle garnish.
And why stop there? Grab one of Three Buns’ Truffle Pear Martinis to go along with your burger. It’s an awesome balance between the pungent, earthiness of truffle and the sweet and tartness of pear. We give this cocktail two thumbs way up! In the spirit of indulgence finish your meal with a Truffle Gelato, a delicious creation that chef Adam and Milkbar has carefully refined. Believe it or not, it works!
Aside from this seasonal menu, which will only available until the end of January, Three Buns has also added several non-truffle items to their menu including the Big Krabby Kane, a crab burger with a aromatic spicy twist, and the Big Poppa’s Banana & Hot Butterscotch Sundae, is your mouth watering yet?
