KINTARO SUSHI PIK

June 28, 2017 Cindy Lulaby

The competition for sushi restaurants has been pretty tough lately. All are trying their best to appeal on a glance, from Sushi Hiro's sushi on stairs, Sushi Sen's sushi house, Sushi Teishoku with its sushi ferris wheel, Sushi Taka's sushi tree, and now Kintaro Sushi with its bridge! Hopefully the taste will be as appealing as the looks!

Located right next to Cake A Boo at Pantai Indah Kapuk! Came here on its opening day, so the ones that came are mostly family or business partner but it's still a full house!

What's interesting here is that you can DIY you menu! It's totally unlimited, you can create your personal favorite menu. On another side, the menus in Kintaro is already pretty wide with more than 300 choices, no wonder their menu book is super thick to the point where they need a separator!

SALMON SASHIMI IDR 45K / 3 PCS

TEMPURA MORIAWASE MIX IDR 75K
You can predict how this taste like. There's nothing special, it's exactly how it's supposed to taste like!

KINTARO GYU KUSHI KATSU IDR 180K
This is a medium rare beef made into katsu and served with hot stone where you can cook the beef with the sauce. It's like that popular dish in Japanese, finally it reaches Jakarta! Now you don't need to go that far for a taste of a Japanese gyu kushi katsu!

You can cook it to how you preferred your beef!

VOLCANO ROLL IDR 90K
Came in 8 pieces and arranged to imitate a volcano and covered with crunchy goodness! Personally, I like it, it's the type of sushi that even those who can't eat raw will also like!

HOTSTONE CHIRASHI IDR 120K
First time trying chirashi on a hotstone making the rice to be a bit crunchy. The chirashi is also custom-able like what I said before! I'm not a big fan of hotstone rice with that crunchy texture, so this is just okay for me.

MAZE CHIRASHI IDR 130K
This one is a normal chirashi, so don't be surprised if it's not hot. Toppings are also interesting, there's tuna and salmon sashimi!

SHINKANSEN SUSHI TRAIN PLATTER
For this one, you can choose 3 sushi rolls to put on this! We got the;

KINTARO ROLL IDR 120K

DRAGON ROLL IDR 110K

SPIDER ROLL IDR 100K
All rolls came in 8 pieces and I love them all because of the overflowing sauce with a bombastic flavor! Also love the fact that the flavors are pretty rare!

KINTARO GYUDON IDR 95K
Yeap, something almost all Japanese restaurants have! The beef here is cooked to a medium and accompanied with onsen egg and truffle oil. This will definitely be a best-seller!

BOMB ROLL IDR 95K
This is so cute!! The 'bomb' is made with nori powder as the black color and inside is just a rice ball actually..lol! The sushi rolls is filled with salmon and also covered with the same nori powder. I think the sushi is a bit dry, though the taste is still good!

ABURI MORIAWASE IDR 95K
Now this is the bridge I was talking about! The presentation is definitely unique but the taste is similar to any others, though it's still good!

EMPEROR BENTO IDR 295K
Another highlight in this place is this 3 layered bento in a shape of an Osaka castle! The top layer is filled with fried unagi don!

Second is filled with Kintaro Gyudon, this is just a mini version of it!

The bottom is a mosaic chirashi!

The mosaic chirashi is super cool and carefully made. The taste is pretty average but the presentation will definitely attract a lot of attention!

Well, it was an interesting experience. Presentation-wise it's all a full score but taste is a bit average for some. I guess when it comes to the usual sushi and sashimi, taste will always be similar, it's fresh tho, so it's all good!
