6 Best Place to Find Bread

November 25, 2014 christi

“Best Bread in Jakarta” is always a hotly debated topic and everyone has a personal favourite, but we’ll bravely throw in our stylish hats and declare the following six as the best of the best. What do you think? Did we get it right?

Authentique Bakery

The cozy blue and white bakery Authentique is a staple for people who love carbs in Kemang. Every weekend you can catch fans spilling out of this charming café to get their hands on delicious pastries, but don’t overlook their breads. The crusts are firm while the insides are chewy and pillowy, amazing! Now you can beat the crowd and head to the more spacious Sophie’s Authentique on neighbouring Jalan Kemang 1.

Authentique Bakery, Jl. Kemang Selatan 1 no. 20A, Kemang, South Jakarta, p. 62-21/718-0011. Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat 7.30am-5pm, Sun 8am-5pm.

Eric Kayser

You can tell master baker Eric Kayser is serious about his craft by looking at his profile image. And by his process – all of the bread in his bakeries are kneaded, shaped, and baked onsite under the watchful eye of a head baker, trained by Eric Kayser himself. Still not convinced? How about the fact that it takes about 12 hours of love and work to produce a baguette? Or that there are more than 100 outlets located around the world?

Eric Kayser, Plaza Senayan, Jl. Asia Afrika, Senayan, South Jakarta, p. 62-21/5366-0821. Hours: Mon-Sun 9:30am-10pm.
