We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – a full tummy and a cup of coffee is all your need to tackle a day in paradise [oh we feel so sorry for you!]. Now, if you are visiting the hip and happenin’ hood of Canggu you are in no shortage of an epic breakie, infact it can be a little overwhelming on choices. So we thought we would whittle it down to our top 5 breakie’s in Canggu, from smoothie bowls to poached eggs!
1/ ULUWATU @ Nalu Bowls
This delicious smoothie bowl is all you need to begin the day if you are after something refreshing, cold and fruity. Nalu Bowls have become a bit of a phenomenon in Bali, with extra locations popping up in Uluwatu, Seminyak and Berawa, and it’s not hard to see why. The rustic, white décor and the simple chairs and tables set up are all you need to enjoy this bowl of goodness. We don’t quite know the secret to their perfect blend of fruits, but the Uluwatu is a mixture of dragon fruit, banana, papaya, raspberry and apple juice, topped with strawberries, mango, coconut flakes & honey. Warning – the addiction is real!

2/ Folded Omelette @ Sprout
Green, green to make you lean! This green coloured kale pesto omelette tastes as good as it looks. Made from eggs, steamed broccoli florets and sautéed leak, it is a healthier option to those wanting a hot breakfast. Sprout is definitely a breakfast spot to visit with the little ones as there is a little area especially for the kids to keep busy in with toys and books. Enjoy a great cup of coffee and your green breakfast in peace!

3/ @ RUKO
Those that enjoy a bit of meat in the mornings, RUKO is worth checking out. You will be tempted with lots of other exciting things on the menu [the pancakes are pretty great too] but we urge you to try the pulled pork with poached eggs on a toasted English muffin first. There’s no going back after that, we have been several times and still can’t order anything else!

4/ The Madu @ Milk & Madu
Firstly, the coffee at Milk & Madu is Revolver coffee [arguably the best on the island] so you know your coffee fix is sorted. Secondly, the food is incredible. The culinary team at Milk and Madu have got creative with the menu, offering variations on all the breakfast classics. Our fave has to be The Madu – a take on the ever popular smashed avocado, except they have added in crispy bacon, onion jam & ahollandaise sauce. Mouth wateringly good!

5/ Peas Please @ Crate Cafe
We never thought we would enjoy eating garden peas and spinach for brekakfast, but Peas Please is fast becoming a weekly occurrence on our breakfast hit lists! Toasted sourdough bread, topped with wilted spinach, crumbly feta cheese, garden peas, and lemon, all topped with poached eggs – it really is sublime! And Crate isn’t a bad spot for breakfast either… swing by after an early morning surf at Batu Bolong beach, or grab the big table outside for brunch with the girls.
