August 3, 2016 Amy Nicholson

The Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort is known for its excellent food, and it’s not just their epic Sunday brunch that has people coming back time and time again!  Bene Italian Kitchen, one of their three culinary venues, is a popular choice for eating out in Bali as you can enjoy delicious homemade food in a beautiful setting.  This ocean front restaurant has not only won accolades on the island for its authentic yet modern Italian food, but it has also won awards for its excellent wine list.  Great food, great wine, great setting, what more could you ask for?  How about a special menu dedicated to the porcini mushroom?  Obviously!

The porcini mushroom – aka the ‘king of all mushrooms’ – is loved by Italian chefs due to the intense flavour it brings to dishes when cooked.  Turn your risotto, pasta, and even your desserts, into a culinary masterpiece by adding this jam-packed-full-of-goodness vegetable!  High in fibre and full of protein and vitamins, the porcini mushroom can do no wrong…  It’s even low in fat content. That’s what we like to hear!

To celebrate the king of mushrooms, Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort have decided to give it its own two-month long festival, from August 1st to September 30th.  Executive chef, Rossano Renzelli, and his team have created two unique menus for you to choose from, both of which put the porcini centre stage.

Choose either the degustation menu, which offers scrumptious dishes like cream of lobster and mushroom soup with porcini and button mushroom ragout to start, followed by a freshly made main of sea bass with porcini mushroom sauce, and ending with a naughty but nice chocolate tart with porcini ice cream.  Alternatively, pick from a host of mouth-watering dishes from the à la carte menu, including porcini stuffed pasta shells, porcini risotto with pork fillet, and porcini panna cotta.

We were sold the minute we heard the words ‘mushroom dessert’ – now that’s something we’ve got to try!  Book a table now and enjoy expertly made, authentic Italian food with a mushroom twist as you sip on world-class wine, whilst taking in the panoramic views of the Indian Ocean around you.

Degustation menu prices start from IDR 560,000++ [food only] and IDR 990,000++ [with wine pairings] and à la carte menu prices start from IDR 33,000++.
