The Fairmont has only recently opened its doors to Jakarta, and already this luxury hotel is getting all the right kinds of buzz. We were excited to be invited to sample their food and drinks at their brilliant new bars, as we do love ourselves some happy hour. We visited Barong Bar, View Gastro Bar, and K22 Bar – three unique hangouts that make the case for heading to the Fairmont for a quick drink (or three) when the sun goes down.

The evening kicked off at Barong Bar, Fairmont’s very own version of a classic whiskey haunt. Modelled with masculine leather sofas, dim lighting, and lovely wooden panels, the Barong Bar is the perfect place to unwind after a long day in the city. Whiskey connoisseurs will be thrilled by their offerings of Scotch and single malts, but if you’re not really a whiskey straight up kind of girl, no worries! Barong Bar specializes in whiskey inspired cocktails like our pick of the night: the Highland Daisy, a delicious concoction made with Scotch, Benedictine, rosemary, raisin honey syrup and a dash of lemon.
Barong Bar. Open everyday from 17.00 to 01.00.

View Gastro Bar
Next up, nibbles at the glamorous View Gastro Bar. The View offers a sumptuous menu of tapas and innovative cocktails. As the name suggests, this hang out spot is situated high up on the 22nd floor, and offers beautiful views, whether it be the best sunset in Jakarta, or sparkling city lights come nighttime. Bring a date and share dishes like their impressive A Gift from the Sea plate with tuna, avocado, watermelon and vintage caviar, and their satisfying Squid Ink Paella. A place worth revisiting.
View Gastro Bar. Open everyday from 17.00 to 23.00.
We finished off with a nightcap at the uber stylish K22 Bar just adjacent to View. K22 is where the people watching would take place on the weekends, as we’re sure all the beautiful people naturally flock to rooftop lounges that boasts sweeping city views and stylish interiors. Two stunningly illuminated round island bars are located at each end of the terrace, where expert mixologists work their magic behind the counter to create delicious “Culinary Cocktails” – K22’s take on old school favourites like the Moscow Mule, Margarita, and the Mai Tai.
